2023 Welsh Para Surfing Championships Day 1 Completed!
We've had a hugely successful first day at the 2023 Welsh Para Surf Championships.
Running Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August, the event was held for the first time over the border at The Wave in Bristol.
Judges and spectators were treated to outstanding displays of surfing, showcased by para surfers across six different categories.
Day one of the tournament saw a global roster of para-surfers registering high scores on mechanical 3ft glassy waves on offer.
Abersoch's surf assassin, Llywelyn "Sponge" Williams was among stand-out competitors in the kneeling division, shredding the inland chlorinated ramps and showing why he's current ISA Para World Champion.
But all participants demonstrated skill, tenacity and talent in abundance across the day's heats, leaving us very excited for tomorrow's finals and the crowning of our contest champions.
