Georgina Lewtas: From Weekend Warrior to Welsh Longboard Champion

Tucked away in the coastal beauty of Pembrokeshire, Georgina Lewtas balances life as a surfer, mum, and an outdoor instructor.

But before the titles and the waves of west Wales, her journey started in the bustling city of Bristol.

“I first tried surfing on a school trip when I was 14,” Georgina recalls. “After that, my dad and I became weekend warriors, chasing waves whenever we could.”

Her passion for the sport grew stronger when she moved to Aberystwyth for university, where she studied Agriculture and found a sense of community in the surf club. “Aber was brilliant for making friends who loved the ocean as much as I did,” she says.

Finding home in Pembrokeshire

For the past 15 years, Georgina and her husband have called Pembrokeshire home. She has worked as both a farm worker and an outdoor activity instructor, fully embracing the coastal lifestyle. But surfing has always been a constant.

Wanting to push her limits and connect with other female surfers, she threw herself into competitive surfing, even taking on the UK Pro Tour for a few seasons. “I honestly can’t remember my rankings or what years,” she laughs, “but I loved the experience.”

These days, longboarding has become her focus—especially since becoming a mum to a lively five-year-old daughter and an even busier two-year-old son. With her husband often working away, she credits her parents and friends for helping with childcare so she can still sneak in short surfs.

Representing Wales on the world stage

Between running a small B&B near Newgale and raising two young children, Georgina still finds time to get to work in the water. Her dedication and talent have now earned her a spot on the Welsh team heading to the ISA World Longboard Championships in El Salvador.

From a teenager discovering surfing for the first time to a becoming a wave-riding international, Georgina Lewtas is proof that passion and perseverance can take you to incredible places. As she prepares to compete against the best in the game, she’s not just surfing for herself—she’s flying the flag for Welsh longboarding.

At the end of our interview, she casually says - “Oh, and I’ve been Welsh Ladies Longboard Champion twice!” No biggie Georgia!

And to the kids—if you’re reading this in the future, just know that your mum is cool as hell!

Support the cause

The ISA World Longboard Championships take place in El Salvador this April 25 – May 1, and we’re stoked to be having Welsh representation.

Blake Jones (WCSC), Tom Fisher (LBR) and Georgina Lewtas (PSC) comprise Team Wales this year, but without official grants or sponsorship funding, they are in need of a little support.

It goes without saying that each of our longboarders would be extremely grateful for any donations to help ease the financial burden, so if you’d like to pledge to the gofundme campaign, just click here.

So, who will you be supporting?

Blake has penned a few intros to the skilled athletes who’ll be flying Y Ddraig Goch in Central America this spring. You've just read our intro to Georgina, and you can read all about Tom Fisher here. Stay tuned for Blake Jones' very own profile coming soon!
